    Hi There,

Based on the price of the book, we assume that your book is roughly between 200 to 225 pages. And given below are a couple of examples to address your question:

Usually, distributors/retailers will take between 35% to 50% of the MRP. In that case, here’s how the royalty works:

MRP of your book: 250 INR
Distributor Cost: 100 INR (40% of MRP)
Printing & Shipping Cost per copy of your book: 110 INR
    Royalty to Author: 40 INR

You can talk to the distributor to bring down the distribution cost or even negotiate a fixed price like 80 INR or 90 INR per book, so the author gets a higher royalty.

In case of lesser sales, you can reduce your royalty and request the retailer to offer a 10% to 25% discount on your book as well and here’s how that works:

MRP of your book: 250 INR
Discounted MRP: 200 INR (20% Discount)
    Reader Discount: 50 INR
    Distributor Cost: 80 INR
Printing & Shipping Cost: 110 INR
    Royalty to Author: 10 INR

We hope this clarifies your query. Please reach out to us for more information on this.
