For all sales that happen on Amazon.in and Flipkart, during the month of January (1st to 31st), we’ll be paying royalty on 1st of March.
It might puzzle authors as to why there’s a month gap between royalty payment and we’ll tell you why exactly:
Assume a reader places an order with Amazon and Flipkart on the 31st of January. It takes about 2 to 4 days for the order to reach the customer. From then on, the buyer has the option to return the book in less than 10 days from the date of receiving the book as per Amazon.in and Flipkart’s return policy.
Assuming a return is initiated on the 10th day from the date the buyer received the order, it takes about 2 to 4 days for Amazon.in/Flipkart to return the product to us and this sale will be considered a return and there will be no royalty against this purchase.
This process alone takes 18 to 20 days, excluding Sundays. Hence, only after 20 days from the last day of the month is when we’ll be able to know the exact sales of your book and from then on we’ll work to process royalty for your book sales.
